5 Day Safari to Selous-Mikumi will give you chance to see the best of Southern Tanzania wildlife and nature. The two parks are not very far from one another and can either be arranged in lodging or camping safari.

On your first day of the safari you will be picked from your hotel or Airport in Dar es Salaam and start your safari to the well knowned UNESCO World Heritage Site the Selous Game Reserve. It is quite far and you will have picnic lunch stop en route late afternoon arriving in Selous. Then proceed with evening game drive as you drive towards the lodge/tented camp. Dinner and Overnight will be at Selous Mapumziko Lodge.
Enjoy your two impressive days doing game drives and boat safari in Rufiji River looking for Crock dire and Hippos. Full relax ions and experience the greatest wildlife safari destination away from the crowds of the northern safari zone. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest Game Reserve in Africa where its area seems to be more than the size of Switzerland and you will be amazed with its full of wild animals and a number of birds’ species.
Apart from lions, leopards, giraffes, elephants, hippos, impala, hartebeests, pythons, elands, but it is where the rarest wild dogs can be observed but only if ones lucky can be able to see these rare unbelievable hunters of the African Wilderness. Different from the Northern parts of Tanzania where animals and birds are calmer but here animals are more jumpy.
It has been recorded that more than 350 bird species can be observed in Selous Game Reserve afternoons prepare to go for a boat safari in the Rufiji River and on the next afternoon you will go for a walking safari guided by an armed ranger. Dinner and Overnight stay at Selous Mapumziko Lodge.
After breakfast at the lodge/camp, check out and continue crossing north of Selous and drive to Mikumi National Park. The Mikumi and Selous Game Reserve, the two areas forming a unique ecosystem you can’t miss to visit. The park comprises a subspecies of giraffe, that biologists consider the link between the Masai giraffe and the Somali giraffe. On arrival at Mikumi National Park start experiencing your first game drive in Mikumi National Park until later in the afternoon when you will be served picnic lunch. The landscape of Mikumi is often matched to that of the Serengeti. It consists of savannah landscape with acacia, baobab, tamarinds, and some rare palm trees.
Mikumi National Park has quite less developed infrastructure but that what makes the park even better and unique because that has helped in preserving the wilderness in its natural and untouched state for many years. Here there is also an option of doing a walking safari which is normally guided by an armed ranger if you wish but with an extra charge. Overnight at Camp Bastian or similar. All meals included.
After breakfast we continue with game drives around Mikumi National Park with options to do game drives or go for a walking safari until noon when we drive out of the park and head back to Dar es Salaam.
